Lakers' primary weakness, according to Kupchak

07:14 AM ET 08.16 | When it comes to Kobe Bryant, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak doesn't the star's will or toughness. But when assessing the state of the Lakers at this critical juncture -- after the departure of free agent center Dwight Howard -- the "uncertainty" of Bryant's health remains Kupchak's most pressing concern. "The primary weakness is uncertainty. I don't think that's a secret to anybody," Kupchak said Thursday. ... Kupchak also was asked again whether he regretted not hiring Phil Jackson last season, when Mike Brown was fired just five games into the year, or the way in which Jackson learned the organization had chosen D'Antoni. "I would say 'clumsy' is not a bad characterization only because of the late-night phone call and there was really no other way to get around it in this business," Kupchak said.

The Lakers need to be careful. They are the greatest NBA fanchise. Time and consideration should be taken before making moves. They don't need to stumble themselves into becoming the West Coast Knicks in terms of bad decisions made.

Wow! Everything is being revealed now. This is why some Lakers fans are more confuse and sour grapes. One day they'll believe Jimboy and Dumbtonie because they're saying bad things about Dwight and then there is today where Kupcake is second guessing on not hiring Phil. Let's see where the fans side this time!.....lol

You can tell there's major problems between managements and Kupcake is caught in the middle. This sounds like he is siding w/ Jeanie...

Celtics are. Boston won all of their titles in Boston. The Lakers are far behind with only 11 in LA.

I thought titles didn't matter or was that just the rings you get from winning a title...?

The Fakers are in worse shape than most people realize. First, they have NOONE capable of guarding the league's premiere guards. On offense, there's nobody capable of consistently hitting the outside shot. This means Kobe will attempt to take over in tight situations, and we all know how that turns out.

11? Try again. 16 titles. No wonder you lost during that fictious appearance on the trivia game show you were never really a part of.
