Auburn names Nick Marshall starting QB

09:31 PM ET 08.17 | Reports out of Auburn on Saturday reveal that the quarterback battle for the starting position is over. Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said JUCO transfer Nick Marshall will be granted the gig, edging out freshman Jeremy Johnson. Malzahn spoke about the decision after Saturday's practice. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Marshall is a dual-threat quarterback with great speed, the perfect bit for the up-tempo offense Malzahn wants to run. Marshall put up excellent numbers while at Garden City Community College: 3,142 passing yards, 1,095 rushing yards, and 37 touchdowns (although he did throw 20 interceptions).

Forced to be the entire offense in JUCO. This kid could end up leading SEC in total yardage. With him under center and the RBs Auburn has (Mason, Cameron A-P, Grant), Auburn is going to rack up huge numbers.
