Lane Kiffin could rotate quarterbacks in USC's opener

09:57 AM ET 08.18 | USC Coach Lane Kiffin will almost certainly choose a No. 1 quarterback before the Aug. 29 opener at Hawaii. Or will he? Despite a scheduled departure for Honolulu 10 days from Saturday, Kiffin reiterated that there was no timetable for picking Max Wittek or Cody Kessler -- and he once again left open the possibility of making no choice at all. "We don't know when it's going to happen," Kiffin said after practice. "Ideally, we would not like to have two quarterbacks on opening day, but you never say never." The suspense might be testing the patience of Wittek, Kessler and USC fans, but the quarterbacks said they arrived for team meetings Saturday with no expectation that Kiffin would announce a starter. "I'm not going to lie," Kessler said. "When we first started camp you're kind of thinking, 'It's going to be now. It's going to be next week. It's going to be. . .?' "And then I was just like, you know, I can't do that because if I do that I'm going to drive myself crazy."

Nice avi, dude! Who is she?

Quarterback by committee rarely works. Big risk by LK on this move.

Another brillant move by lane if he does it. This guy seems to go against all common sense. I love it, especially after the Carroll era, wow how the mighty have fallen.

Seriously the USC stats from the Sun bowl are most disturbing, I don't mean to beat a dead horse but golly gee whiz can you please explain why the preseason number 1 team it the nation showed such a dismal performance in the Sun bowl.
Did i mention Southern Cal lost the Sun bowl. Did I get drunk and wake up in another dimension?

August 18, 2013  11:14 AM ET

Senile Al Davis started this crap hiring Lame Lane.

Al Davis was "Senile" way before he hired LK!!!

I would imagine Hello Kiffin feels confident USC can beat Hawaii with anyone at QB...and I'm pretty sure they can.

Sounds like confusion to me. Maybe he's trying to fool the press, maybe it's real. Seems like there's a lot more game-playing with Lane (although Pete was good at it, too). In any case, not good news for Trojan fans.
