10:05 AM ET 08.18 | The Cowboys' depth at the guard position is diminished. But they're no longer looking toward six-time Pro Bowler Brian Waters to provide reinforcement. Talks between the organization and the Waxahachie native have broken down. "It takes two and probably both are not getting it done," Jones said. "I think that is the fairest way to look at it." The Cowboys appear content to stay pat despite the fact that Ron Leary, Nate Livings and Kevin Kowalski are currently sidelined with knee injuries. "Unless," Jones said, "something should present itself." A source close to Waters said, "Brian would play this season under the right set of circumstances."

31 teams are looking at their rosters and the guard they know they will cut loose last and are calling JJ to see if he will give them a late round pick for him in next years draft.

Didn't he play guard for the Lakers.

Must be 60 years old.

JJ needs a Guard. LOL.

Wouldn't it be great if he signs the wrong Winters?

Jerry only has himself to blame. Drafted a skinny TE in the 2nd round when OG was the glaring need. Now he's hoping to get a guard off the couch.

Cowboys are going nowhere with their "loser" QB.

August 18, 2013  10:46 AM ET

Cowboys looked bad yesterday. They still need to fill that gap at the GM position, or this will continue.

Brian "Winters"???

Good Lord interns!

Sad to say they are in a division that even a bad team can win it. That team just has to be mediocre for a year. That is all it took last year.
