Why Mikhail Grabovski remains unsigned

10:18 AM ET 08.18 | The reason Mikhail Grabovski remains unsigned: According to one NHL GM, he wanted too much money and too much term in the early days of free agency. "He was trying to cash in on getting the buyout and double dipping," a general manager said. "And once everybody who wanted a centre signed them, there was no place for him to get the kind of deal he wanted." Now he's unlikely to end up with either large money or long term. Although there are questions other than money about Grabovski that have been pondered in this strange hockey summer.

Too Much For Too Little, Bro?

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that he hasn't been signed by the KHL either.

Is he part of the Irked One's legacy?

I'm not sure what you mean by that BF.

Grabo was with the Leafs when the Irked One was hired but Burkie did give him his five-year contract worth a total of $27.5 million. :-)

That was a 'going away' gift from Burke. It keeps on giving.

Yes, and he under performed in the role he was given. Then complained, but he is a rubber man, and should be injured with a concussion sooner than later. He really gets pinball end around when he plays and comes back for more.

They should've signed him to less, but I've seen many a signing that hasn't gone the teams way, not meaning the Leafs either, and have done it on less than great stats.

I'm at the point that I no longer get him.

Yep. Just because he was born in Germany doesn't mean he forgot how to be Russian.
