07:19 AM ET 08.20 | College football fans are a notoriously loyal lot, and, with the season around the corner, they're being given the chance to vote on who will hoist the hardware in Pasadena. ESPN ran a SportsNation poll on its website today, asking fans whether they think the Alabama Crimson Tide can win a third consecutive BCS National Championship. ... [The] results have been consistent throughout the day: 63 percent believe a team other than the Tide will win. When looking at the results from each state individually, Alabama and Mississippi are the only states whose majority vote went to the Tide. The results would look a bit different if the poll was taken by media members, as Alabama enters the season ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches preseason polls.

Their schedule is pretty easy, but I think UGA could beat them in the SEC champ game if they get that far. Any team that's not a run-first team will have an advantage against Alabama.

Ha, when was the last BCS champ that had a pass heavy offense?

Did I say pass-heavy offense? No.

Based on what I saw last year mainly against aTm and UGA ... not sure if 'Bama's linebackers are mobile enough to play in space. Therefore I think teams with good passing attacks will have an advantage.

Yes I've been perdicting a 3 peat for the last 2 years, and it is looking more and more like it is going to be reality.

People in the states with the traditional lowest average high school SAT scores. Correlation? Nah. But really. Who has a better shot than Alabama? Or another SEC team? That 6 percent must have coe rom the Big 10.

Wow. Talk about repeats. What's up with that?

As a Tide fan I have to say that while I believe that Bama is the best team (or at least in the top two) I have a hard time being confident that they will make it to the NCG again. A lot of things have to fall in line for a team to make it once let alone two times in a row. Three times in a row is like winning the lotto. Remember both times Bama has needed "help" to make it to the game. I do not fear aTm this year as I believe Bama will want revenge and we have more talent. Yes aTm is probably going to test the Bama secondary but I believe Bama will easily win this game. I fear some of the other teams that are not as high on the radar. I worry about Ole Miss, LUS, and Auburn. I know that the last one may seem odd after last year but the one great equalizer for lesser talent is a spread scheme that is well executed. Malzhan should have most of the kinks worked out by the last regular game of the season. With a loss to one of these three (especially the later games in the season) and the SEC fatigue (almost becoming Bama fatigue now) I think we sit high in the rankings but not at 1 or 2 and are on the outside looking in. Just my analysis of things.

Only certain teams can compete for the so called national championship and the powers plan on keeping it that way. They don't want a legitimate playoff system. The BCS is a joke and so is the new 4 team playoff.
