07:30 AM ET 08.20 | As the days grow shorter and NHL camp beckons, Henrik Lundqvist could be marking off the days to July 1, 2014. Yet hitting the open market is the furthest thing from the King's mind as he prepares for his ninth season on Broadway. The objective, as Lundqvist told The Post Monday, is to sign a long-term extension. ... "If we can find a solution, it's no secret that this is where I want to be; I'm not thinking about free agency at all," said Lundqvist, who hit the ice with a half-dozen teammates after returning to New York from Sweden on Sunday. "The way the organization has treated me, the way that our team has played over the last few years, the way I feel about New York City, this is definitely the place I want to be. But we do have a few things we have to talk about."

he's not going anywhere and he'll get the $ he's looking for. the "few things" are what sather needs to do to put this team over the top.

They still have just a little bit of time before he becomes a free agent. Seriously now. If this were June 2014, then I'd understand the anxiety. Then again this is brought to you by the same people who are already hyperventilating over the next presidential election that is still 3 years away.

This season will surely prove to be interesting on Broadway. Have alot of pieces to sign next summer, so I see Sather using this season as the measuring stick. I would def. flip some guys if the opportunity arises at the deadline.
