07:17 AM ET 08.21 | With hopes of cracking the big league lineup in Cleveland, veteran righty Daisuke Matsuzaka has been released from Class AAA Columbus. [Matsuzaka] asked for and was granted his release from the Indians on Tuesday and is expected to sign a deal within the next day or two that can get him to the major leagues. ... [Indians general manager Chris Antonetti] said he did not know that Matsuzaka had something lined up immediately. A source with knowledge of the situation indicated that a handful of teams have been in touch with Matsuzaka's agent, Scott Boras. Matsuzaka had an opt-out clause in his Indians' deal in April, but the combination of his return from Tommy John ligament transfer surgery followed by an oblique strain delayed his return.

He didn't exactly wow anyone in AAA.

August 21, 2013  08:47 AM ET

He made $60 million from the red sox for winning 50 games for them. Not a bad return at around $1.2 million a win. He will be just fine.

The name Dice-K has been revoked for some time now. He is now just Charlie Choy

What was his pitch, gyro ball or something?
A myth, nothing more.

So much hype over this guy a few years back........

He had one really exceptional season back in 08, but was never able to replicate it.

In the "where is he now?" category we bring you Dice K. I completely forgot about this guy lol.

I love the Indians, but the fact is, if they're releasing a starting pitcher, that's a damn good indication that he can't pitch.

August 21, 2013  03:28 PM ET

Watched him pitch in Cbus Monday night and he was getting raked. Told my son "He won't be getting called up by the Indians any time soon"
