07:17 AM ET 08.21 | San Francisco, in the midst of its series with the Red Sox, were busy in the front office on Tuesday. [Jeff Francoeur] was designated for assignment as part of a flurry of roster moves by the Giants. Chad Gaudin was placed on the disabled list with carpal tunnel and left-hander Mike Kickham and right-hander Jean Machi were recalled from Triple-A Fresno. Kickham has given up just four runs in his past four starts for Triple-A Fresno, but he won't be the one replacing Gaudin in the rotation. Barry Zito, pulled from his starting spot earlier this month, will face the Boston Red Sox tomorrow. Francoeur hit just .194 in 22 games with the Giants, who had hoped to catch lightning in a bottle and find a fix in left field. The writing was on the wall Monday night, when Brett Pill made his first appearance.

He won't have it for long if he continues to pitch like he did today.

Not only did he get his job back, but he kept his same mojo... This guy should wear a ski mask on the field and let everyone know he is a bank robber... The man had NO dignity or heart...

Unfortunately Francoeur didn't turn out to be the Giants version of Alfonso Soriano.

His fastball routinely dips below 80 MPH and he still gets people out (not nearly at a high enough rate). That's pretty amazing.
