07:24 AM ET 08.21 | In the interest of full disclosure, George Whitfield would tell you he's a fan -- if not family. Whitfield, who runs the quarterback training academy Whitfield Athletix, had an opportunity to work with [Devin Gardner] for nearly a week in Chicago during the spring and for a few days this summer. Whitfield, known as the quarterback "guru," came away more than impressed with the redshirt junior who enters this season as the starter. "Devin is like my kid brother," Whitfield said during a telephone interview. "He is supremely talented. He has as much athletic tools and talent as anybody in college football. There are a lot of great players and there are a lot of dynamic young guys out there, but there are only a handful of dynamic, charismatic kids. College football needs Devin, needs his story, his triumphs, his charisma."

Devin could turn out to be the sleeper QB of the season or another MEH Michigan QB. He definitely has the talent to put it all together. Let's hope Michigan's O line helps him out this season unlike last year. What do you Irish and OSuckU trolls think?

Well since he can throw and run. Teams wont just load up the box like they did last year against DR. Since they knew he couldnt throw. What M needs to do is cut down on Turnovers. Lost the ND game and Neb game off turnovers. And with Blake Countess back at Cb it should help out their pass def. Michigan might be the sleeper team this year.

Darboh lost for the season (would've have been #2 WR behind Gallon). Big blow . . . . we'll see who steps up.

Gardner, barring injury, will be highly touted by the NFL by year's end.
