07:18 AM ET 08.21 | At long last, Red Sox fans can mark their calendars. Clay Buchholz could make his first minor league start Sunday. Buchholz threw 46 pitches in a four-inning simulated game here today. He pitched to right-handed hitters David Ross, Mike Napoli and Xander Bogaerts and threw his full repertoire of pitches. Next step: A bullpen session Friday in Los Angeles, after which he could start as soon as Sunday, possibly for short-season Single-A Lowell. So, after a three-month absence, Buchholz finally can see a light at the end of the rehab tunnel. "It's obviously taken a lot longer than I wanted it to or expected it to," Buchholz said. "If everything keeps going as everybody wants it to go, my body is going to well-rested for the opportunity to help our team make a push here towards the end of the season."
