07:14 AM ET 08.23 | With the job firmly in his hands, Michael Vick will now count a good deal on his legs. [Vick] revealed a surprising strategy for avoiding the injuries that have plagued him the past three years. He wants to run the ball more often -- and coach Chip Kelly's offense will give him that chance. "I will be a threat," Vick said Thursday. "I'm going to have my opportunities to do the things I like to do within this offense and to run the football. That's exciting." ... In Kelly's option-based offense, Vick will be able to run the ball more often. Of course, that means he will be subjected to more contact. "We have an answer for that -- 220 pounds standing right here, soaking wet," Vick said. Vick said he added weight and muscle in the offseason. He also worked to strengthen his legs.

he didn't finish his statement. 'I will be a threat and I will get injured and miss at least 6 games.' FIXED!!!

If he doesn't learn how to slide, which he hasn't in 10+ years, he'll get nicked up. I say he's out the first time by game 5.

Oh please do. I like seeing him get smacked around better than anyone else.

He has no choice but to get outside the pocket to pass or run. If he just tries to move within the pocket he cannot see over the DL in front of him. Never could.

Just make sure you wear authorized apparel when you're injured and standing on the sidelines, Michael. The NFL takes that stuff pretty seriously.

August 23, 2013  08:32 AM ET

He's going to be running for his life this year for sure. Option based offense. Option 1) Get sacked Option 2) Get hammered trying to get around the edge Option 3) Throw a pick because there aren't enough quality receivers

I guess one of the other things not working at this site is the ability to "Quote".

@ TxHeat- Amazing how other teams downplay the QB run and here we have Michael Vick painting a Bulls Eye on his chest declaring that he is going to run and wants to hit . Maybe having Vick run is the only way Kelly plans on working him off the team.

You are right, he may be able to play 10 games, that's what his past records support.

He'll be hurt by the third game.

I want to fly like an eagle

fly like an eagle
until my injury

The joke is people fail to realize that all his injuries the last couple of seasons were him sitting in the pocket while a blown assignment from the O-Line gets him creamed and taken out of the game. He is probably safer running with the ball more again.

Coach killer. Chip would be wise to have a well practiced plan B.
