07:20 AM ET 08.23 | If baseball is a game of traditions rooted in history, few come with this level of consistency. Strike up the band, Los Angeles. Vin Scully is coming back. The Dodgers are expected to announce Friday that Scully, the finest broadcaster in baseball history, will return for a record 65th season in 2014. Scully is 85. The Dodgers never would kick him out of the broadcast booth, but he respects his audience too much to mumble around a microphone the way Willie Mays stumbled around center field for the New York Mets, in a sad close to a brilliant career. So Scully takes it year to year. This year, he has been invigorated by the best reality show in town, the richest-to-worst-to-first Dodgers. Next year? Sign him up.

At least he never incoherently mumbled and slobbered the way Harry Caray did in his later years.

Simply the best.

Just sent SI an e-mail..... contents follow.....

The Fannation Site is virtually non-functional. This is a purported SI web site. The user community has been making a reference to the problems since Monday, and there is NO response from support staff or any other representative. I have tried using the site with IE, Firefox, and Google Chrome from several machines. You cannot quote comments, or go to a follow on page after page 1. This has gone on all week. If you are planning to shutdown the site, then please just put a banner up. If it is no longer run by SI - please approach them to rectify the fact they are representing YOU. It seems a function was attempted to be implemented, and it has effectively brought the site to less than a crawl. The idea of this site was tremendous, and I have established several conversational relationships that I would like to continue. Unfortunately, it looks like I may have to continue them through a different means. Please review and do something. Just something.

"No one has ever done it better than Vinny!"

Nor does it appear that he's slowing down either.
