07:21 AM ET 08.23 | Enter, night? Metallica is scheduled to play the Apollo on Sept. 21 to promote their 3D concert film. Might they do a one-song set the next day at Yankee Stadium as part of the ceremony to honor retiring Yankee closer Mariano Rivera? "Enter Sandman" live? The Yankees aren't saying. But the dates match up nicely, so let the speculation begin. One day after Metallica's show in Harlem, the Yankees are celebrating Rivera's remarkable career with a pre-game event before they take on the San Francisco Giants at the Stadium. A Yankee spokesman said he could not comment on "any events surrounding Mo's ceremony." ... It would be something if the band showed up to play Rivera's entrance song. The tune always puts a charge in the Stadium crowd.

He is a legend fo sho but the theatrics behind this is a little over done...they have been doing a farewell tour all season long for him...his retirement shouldnt be any different then any other player...Let him do his thing and give him a standing Ovation louder then ever...anything else is excessive...

Chipper Jones had the same thing done for him. At every ball park..... so it's not unprecedented.

Also; Slink - put a TD to you. I know you can't read your fanmail.... but its out there for you.

".his retirement shouldnt be any different then any other player."

I respectfully disagree. Know special when you see it. On and off the field he was that. I think it is apparent to every team in baseball what the man did and what he stands for, that is why every team has done something special for him. Kudos to all of them.

Greatest closer of all time. Period. His regular season record may be broken someday, but his post season record may never be matched.

Just sent SI an e-mail..... contents follow.....

The Fannation Site is virtually non-functional. This is a purported SI web site. The user community has been making a reference to the problems since Monday, and there is NO response from support staff or any other representative. I have tried using the site with IE, Firefox, and Google Chrome from several machines. You cannot quote comments, or go to a follow on page after page 1. This has gone on all week. If you are planning to shutdown the site, then please just put a banner up. If it is no longer run by SI - please approach them to rectify the fact they are representing YOU. It seems a function was attempted to be implemented, and it has effectively brought the site to less than a crawl. The idea of this site was tremendous, and I have established several conversational relationships that I would like to continue. Unfortunately, it looks like I may have to continue them through a different means. Please review and do something. Just something.

In the Fannation, nothing is something.
