07:29 AM ET 08.23 | Big Tyler Myers, who is looking to rebound after a dispiriting season, made a big admission this week. "I think I'll be the first one to say I wasn't anywhere near where I should've been last year," the 23-year-old defenseman told Kevin Sylvester and Andrew Peters on Thursday's edition of the Sabres Hockey Hotline radio show. Myers posted three goals and five points in 39 games, and then missed the last seven games of the year with a broken bone in his leg. The injury occurred when he blocked a shot by Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban on April 11. In addition to normal strength training this offseason, Myers said that he's taken special attention to mental training for the first time in his career. "Going into seasons in the past, I've never trained my mind like this."

Well ... duh .... at $5.5MIL per season, you should be at least as good as Wade Redden. ;-)

If this thing keeps going like this, we'll reach 20 posts before we get started. They don't appear to be in a hurry to fix it either.

But then ..... what do we expect for free?

"I think I'll be the first one to say I wasn't anywhere near where I should've been last year,"

Newsflash - I don't think you're the first to say that.

"I've never trained my mind like this before."

If you've finally trained it to avoid giveaways, to play physically using your goliath stature and make some use of your outstanding skating instead of being a non-factor - then congratulations young man!

Call up Zdeno Chara and have him do the Vulcan mind-meld asap.
