10:21 AM ET 08.24 | An irritated David Ortiz complained Friday that his published comments about Ryan Dempster hitting New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez created an unintended fuss, saying that he and the Red Sox pitcher are not at odds over the issue. "I don't give a flying f--- what anybody thinks," Ortiz said. "I don't care who hits who and who doesn't." Ortiz reiterated his objection to Dempster's throwing at Rodriguez was because "it kind of woke them up." "Did I lie about that?" he said. "I think that's what everybody saw." Ortiz said he had not spoken with Dempster since Thursday's story in USA TODAY Sports, in which the Red Sox slugger was quoted as saying he did not agree with Dempster's hitting Rodriguez with a pitch.

Ain't the first time he's created controversy with his mouth and it probably won't be the last.

Dempster is the guy who created the controversy in the first place with his selfish act. As a leader on that team Papi has every right to express his opinion that Dempster most likely cost his team a game with his actions.

It was the one time Pappi ever said anything that did make sense. This will teach him to never do that again.

Isn't that pretty much every time he takes the mound?

yep, which is exactly why I thought Girardi was out of his mind for wanting him ejected from the game.

Exactly; say it privately to Dempster.
But, as you said above, Papi has a habit of opening his mouth to the media and sticking his foot in.
He craves media attention, and is beginning to become a legend in his own mind.
