10:49 AM ET 08.24 | Mark Walter, the Dodgers' controlling owner, said Friday that he is "absolutely" interested in talking to Hanley Ramirez this winter about extending his contract. Ramirez's current deal expires at the end of the 2014 season. "I think a guy like Hanley Ramirez, he's a special, special player," Walter said. "If you know where we could find five more, we'll take them all. I don't think there are five more." Ramirez will earn $15.5 million this year and $16 million next year. "Hanley's a special guy," Walter said. "He's fun in the clubhouse. He inspires other people. He hits the ball harder than anybody else." Ramirez, 29, said that if the Dodgers approach him at any time about a contract extension, he would be open to talking. "Definitely, because I want to stay here," Ramirez said. "I want to stay here forever."

Let's see if he can keep his infamous truculence in check.

Of course Rameriz would love to get the Dodgers to sign him to a long term, big dollars deal. Given his injury history and erratic performance only a fool would give him a deal longer than a couple years. He is not nearly as dangerous on the bases as he once was. But I won't be surprised if he gets a five year, $110 million extension. How can the Dodgers not pay him as much as Crawford is getting?

Hanley Ramierez is having a career year. look at the back of his baseball card. the Dodgers sign him to a big contract extension and next couple of years he reverts back to the averages on his baseball card. The Dodgers will be disappointed. Besides he will have gotten a big contract
