11:31 AM ET 08.24 | Kurt Busch has been offered an extension from Furniture Row Racing. The contract comes five days after FOXSports.com broke the news that the 2004 champion had received an offer from Stewart-Haas Racing to pilot a fourth car in 2014. Although Busch was offered a deal from FRR earlier this year, he opted to wait and "kick the tires" before making a final decision. Busch, who is currently ninth in the point standings but sans a win, didn't seem concerned about his plans for next season. Right now he said his "main goal is making the Chase." "The timing of making a decision is what it needs to be," Busch said. "There are timelines on things and things that have to fall into place. The timing of this is tough because it's the middle of August and it's the run towards the Chase. But it's a decision I have to put a lot of time and effort into."

Take a ride where he is 'top dog' or take a ride where he's low man on the totem pole even below Danica.. each ride has its disadvantages.. he might just want to stay at Furniture Row

Was thinking the same thing.....SHR may have HMS engines, but they still do not have all their ducks in a row......besides, Kurt will have lots of water to put under his bridge via ongoing feuds with Harvick and Tony.......stay at FRM and have a rocking good 2014 year and then get a top notch ride in 2015.

oooops....FRM should be FRR

Saturday night at Bristol, Danica Patrick will again make NASCAR history when she makes her 34th career Sprint Cup Series start, breaking a tie with Janet Guthrie for the most career series starts by a woman. The history of women in NASCARs top division is pretty sparse. Only 16 women have ever started a Cup race, half of those doing so in NASCARs first seven seasons.

She misses Tony a lot......seriously......and I can see her ending up with him......eventually. Stenhouse is nice and all, but not domineering enough.......this is just my hunch....I could be way off the mark .....or spot on.....wait and see.

IDK.. Tony is too 'scruffy' for Danica.. I think she wants a guy who is clean-shaven and will come running whenever she calls.. I have a 'word' for that.. but the gentleman that I am.. I'll reframe from using it

This made me chuckle.

But I too think Danica wants a heyboy.

All I know is that she was in the way all night. Can't figure why someone didn't fix that.

True. Nice to see Kurt doing well both on the track and controlling that mouth.

If Furniture Row doesn't get a better pit crew to entice Kurt to stay.. he just might bolt to Stewart/Haas.. there have been numerous times the FR crew has lost Kurt positions on the track due to poor stops.. last night at Bristol was no different

The BK Racing tandem of Reutimann & Kvapil were banging off more cars than Danica was.. you did notice who started the wreck that took out Harvick.. Truex.. Keselowski.. and Hamlin??.. it wasn't Danica

Kurt Busch will be sponsored by Haas Automation if he signs with Stewart-Haas Racing for the 2014 season. Gene Haas, who co-owns SHR with Tony Stewart, wants the 2004 Sprint Cup champion in one of his cars because he wants to take his non-racing company's name to Victory Lane.
Haas and the Furniture Row Racing driver began talking about the possibility of him coming to SHR last month during a General Motors dinner in Indianapolis. Not long after that, SHR offered Busch a contract to expand the organization to four teams.
Busch has offers from several other teams, including one from Furniture Row. Busch has yet to look over the FRR deal and likely won't until later.
Haas said nothing has been signed as far as he knows, but he is optimistic Busch will come to SHR

Rodney Childers has informed Michael Waltrip Racing he will not return to the #55 NASCAR Sprint Cup team next year. Childers is moving to Stewart-Haas Racing, where he is expected be the crew chief for Kevin Harvick. From Rodney Childers' point of view, Stewart-Haas Racing made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Nevertheless, the impending departure of the crew chief of the #55 Toyota will leave a major void at Michael Waltrip Racing

Hats off to KK -- could have taken Kenseth out a number of times. But unlike JGR drivers did him in the past -- did not.
