09:53 AM ET 08.25 | USC Coach Lane Kiffin decided that when it comes to choosing a starting quarterback, the best decision is no decision. Kiffin said Saturday that "we anticipate" playing both Max Wittek and Cody Kessler in the Trojans' opener Thursday at Hawaii. "We look at it as a great thing," he said. "We've got two guys that we feel great about. We don't feel like we have to limit our offense with either one." USC departs for Honolulu after practice Tuesday. Kiffin said he had not determined how much each quarterback might play and that he would decide who will go first sometime after the Trojans arrive in Hawaii. Kiffin informed Wittek and Kessler of the plan during a short meeting Saturday morning.

Doesn't this non decision throw the receivers off just a little.

Really looking forward to this Thursday.

Too much is being made of this "playing two quarterbacks in USC opener"!!! Hell USC has 3 fairly good QBs, so what's the problem???

August 25, 2013  11:27 AM ET

If you count the guy running the "wild trojan" formation, that's 3 QBs.

Lane has Layla hips in that picture.

I bet even Marqise Lee can play QB in a pinch!!!

QB uncertainty usually creates confusion both on the field and on the sideline.
This is either a calculated gamble or an indication Kiffin can't make a decision.
It will be interesting to watch this scenario play out.

Good point!! Didn't this same problem happen to ND last year with Golson and Rees?

Problem? There is never any problem at South Bend, only solutions.
I can see coach Kelly sending in Hendrix from time to time this season. I have no problem with that.

Tommy is our starter, whats so difficult about that?

Van I agree and the same thing will happen at USC!!! You will see LK play all three of his QBs through out the season!!

Can you point out the 3 different styles of qb we can expect, which is a pocket passer or scrambler.
Come on Ole Timey the season is upon us, do your job old man.

I believe all three are pocket passers. I don't think USC would recruit a scrambling QB. I really like this kid Max Browne, but he is only a true freshman!!

Yes how stupid of me, I can not recall a Vince Young type QB at SC.

Jimmy Clausen started as a true freshman.

Wittek and Browne are pro-style QB's. Kessler has the most mobility. Barring injury, Browne will redshirt. Kessler will win the job, and Wittek will transfer.

Kessler,, are you kidding me!! Kessler doesn't have the throwing power to lead the mighty Trojans back to glory.
Wittek is your man, clearly Wittek is a perfect fit for coach Kiffin's offense.

Only in the pre-season. BK named Golson the starter before the first game.
He did bring Rees in during a couple of games for a couple of possessions when Golson was struggling, and Rees filled in respectably when Golson was hurt.
