07:07 AM ET 08.26 | Oft-injured running back Ryan Williams may be the odd man out in Phoenix. The Arizona Cardinals expect to have RB Rashard Mendenhall back for the season opener, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, and have been shopping [Williams]. Williams, a 2011 second-round pick, has battled various medical setbacks, has been the subject of trade talks. ... [Mendenhall] was signed to a one-year deal to beef up the run game following his own return from ACL surgery in 2012. Mendenhall suffered a minor sprain in Saturday night's game but is expected to be ready for the regular season and will likely wear a brace, at least early in the season. In recent days running backs Felix Jones and Delone Carter have been dealt, and more trades for running backs should emerge before 53-man rosters are set.

So you've got an injured RB on a one-year contract, and you're dealing everyone else?

Some things never change, and the Cardinals are among those things.

Hopefully Mendenhall gets a chance to play so US Presswire can possibly get a picture of him in a Cards jersey...

Trading for Felix Jones. Wow!! Dude has nothing.

Hard to believe, isn't it?

Why do teams think just because they bust out on a second round pick that somehow some other team will give you a draft pick for him before you cut him?

Couldn't stop laughing. Remember him in training camp last year failing the physical conditioning test?

"Oft-injured running back Ryan Williams may be the odd man out in Phoenix."

So the oft-injured Williams is going to be supplanted by the muzzie-lovin', oft-injured Mendenhall?

This scenario has the economic prowess of Tim Geithner written all over it.

I think those in a supplemental draft have a better chance of making a team than Williams.
