Angels rift is real, Dipoto on thinner ice

07:14 AM ET 08.26 | More than $300 million remains due to Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton, and the issues extend beyond the field in Anaheim. As ugly as the Angels' season has turned on the field, behind-the-scenes cattiness is adding to the grim sense that continues to pervade the organization. Perhaps nothing illustrates it as well as [GM Jerry Dipoto's meetings, which, sources told Yahoo! Sports, scouts have actively tried to duck as this season careens toward another massive disappointment that could end with Dipoto's ouster. However much Angels manager Mike Scioscia tries to deny a rift between he and Dipoto, as he did Sunday, sources said one does indeed exist. And a simple assessment of the situation -- Scioscia's contract runs through 2018 and Dipoto's 2014 -- places the GM far closer to the guillotine than the manager.

Just another 'sink hole' of a season out in Anaheim.

Still waiting for Albert Pujols to file that lawsuit.

Too bad...

I'm so glad you are a StupidMoron.

Jealously of players salaries, bad chemistry on the team, and losing ball games is a formula for turmoil in the clubhouse in Halo land.

He's too busy worrying about hiding his trail of evidence.

I think you'll be waiting for a long while ...

Yeah - I don't think Pujols wants to give anyone an excuse to hire an army of investigators to start digging into the past.

Quell mess.

I doubt the Rangers would want him even at $6 mil per. He's a high maintenance head case who's only one slip away from losing it completely. Besides, he wouldn't like listening to the boos at Arlington.

The GM should go. In 2012, the Angels were third in the AL in runs scored, fifth in starter ERA, but led the league in blown saves. To a decent GM, that means you should work to shore up your bullpen. Instead, they went and broke the bank on an outfielder they didn't need, just like the year before when they broke the bank on a first baseman they didn't need. A good GM goes out and gets players who fill needs for the organization. The Angels' GM goes out to get the shiniest name on the free agent market whether they need him or not.
