07:15 AM ET 08.26 | Yes, after pitching 135 2/3 innings in 2001 and 169 1/3 in 2012, Matt Harvey's workload is on the Mets' minds. This season, Harvey has already thrown 178 1/3 innings. And there are 34 games left in the season. Manager Terry Collins said the Mets have already placed an innings limit on their young ace, but they are still looking for more ways to lessen his late-season workload. Harvey gave up two runs on a career-high 13 hits over 6 2/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Saturday, and Collins said part of his struggles were a result of fatigue. "That's what we've been trying to battle with the last two months," Collins said. "[You] have to take into account what's in the best interest of the club, the team at the time and the organization down the road."

At least it isn't a Strasburg situation. Mets are going nowhere. Nationals blew a chance to win a title.

Exactly. Do what's best for the kid, since the games don't matter.

The owner could use some cash. He will pitch in some home games. Road games? not so much. You watch..

And Detroit didn't have a DH in that game. Detroit looks pretty scary , they might have got into his head. And then the pitcher contributes a double !!

Fatigue is just a convenient excuse for not having your best stuff.

This is why they have the 15 day DL. Next time he coughs, sneezes or squints, put him on it. happens all the time.

Looks like he isn't going to be pitching at all and Mets fans might want to worry about next year

Never agreed with this. Innings pitched earlier in the season are no longer in your shoulders memory banks.

Yeah I don't think his elbow remembers anything either
