07:11 AM ET 08.26 | Veteran forward Antawn Jamison may soon have a new NBA home without having to change much in his commute. The Los Angeles Clippers are closing in on a deal with [Jamison], a source close to the situation told ESPNLosAngeles.com on Sunday. Jamison, 37, played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season, averaging 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds. He has been unabashed in his desire to play for a championship contender in the final years of a 15-year career in which he has averaged 18.8 points and 7.6 rebounds. He will likely surpass 20,000 career points early next season. Jamison played through torn wrist ligaments for much of the second half of last season with the Lakers. He had offseason surgery and expects to be 100 percent at the start of the season.

Not often you can grab a future HOF'er...

August 26, 2013  07:56 AM ET

I hope the pending HOF induction doesn't mess this guy.

The Clips did need some depth at forward -- but I'm surprised they went this way. If he plays more than 10-15 minutes / game -- the Clips are in trouble. His defense is terrible.

True but I think his heart is set on going into the Hall as a Cavalier.

Dammit, I made myself spray coffee out my own nose with that one...

This guy is bad luck. Clipps should pass on this guy just on the idea of luck alone. He goes to Cleveland and the team gets worse. He goes to the Lakers and the team gets worse. Don't take your chance Clippers!

And I forgot to mention that those teams were stacked w/ Lebron and Kobe as leaders...

Not the first time he's done that. It's his SOP when he's depressed.

Lakers made a big mistake letting him go. Healthy, he's a gritty player with a lot of toughness.
