02:24 PM ET 08.26 | Sunday was a wild 24 hours for Colt McCoy. Reports began to surface early in the afternoon that the San Francisco 49ers would be looking to trade or release McCoy and they then switched to the news that McCoy would be accepting a 50 percent pay cut. Now, after the team's third preseason game of the year, McCoy has won the No. 2 quarterback job in San Francisco. 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh announced the news after the team's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Colt McCoy. Now just a snap away from leading a Super Bowl contender. A far cry from Cleveland, ain't it?

Indeed.

It's kinda weird to me that San Fran gave McCoy the backup job so quickly. Didn't seem like he'd done anything special to earn it, and if I were Harbaugh I'd put more emphasis on ensuring I had a capable backup behind Kaepernick.

Then again, I'm not Harbaugh. He undoubtedly has a much better grip on the situation than I do.

If I had two wheels, I'd be a bike... Then again I'd rather be a motorcycle... But Motorcycles can be dangerous if you get on them when you drink... And I like to drink... So a motorcycle is probably not a good deal thingy.

Accepting a 50% pay cut was a smart move by Colt. Earning half his former salary is better than being cut and earning nothing.
