07:19 AM ET 08.27 | At this point, the report goes barely as deep as the headline. Details were extremely limited, but French sports daily L'Equipe reported that Spurs point guard Tony Parker is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday after injuring his right knee for the second time in exhibition play leading up to next month's EuroBasket tournament. The injury does not appear to be serious. Parker was hurt at some point during France's 85-84 loss to rival Spain in Montpellier. He scored 26 of his 29 points in the second half, but missed a 3-pointer at the end. The injury was not referenced in a wire story about the game, nor did Parker address it in comments published by L'Equipe. EuroBasket will be held from Sept. 4-22 in Slovenia.

Poor Spurs. They have to deal w/ this almost every year. 2 of their big 3 are always playing in the summer for a Euroleague tournament or Olympic qualifying.

Quit While You're Behind, Bro.

The Spurs should simply void Parker's contract if he has other obligations.

And replace him with.....who?

Seriously.....sometimes folks on this board seem to engage in 'silly talk' just for the sake of it....

but there-in lies the rub

he's too good/valuable to simply 'void'

which is why there shuld be an NBA rule.

And how would the NBA legally be able to control what a player does.....for free.....on his own time? Particularly when he isn't breaking the law.

The NBA players union would never let it happened....even if the league were to try.

BTW.....has it ever occurred to you all that the NBA actually WANT its stars to play international ball? Yeah.....it's called "exposure". It's allows the NBA to market itself world-wide.....and it also incentivizes foriegn players to leave 'home' to come here to play NBA ball.

.......but the bottom line is that it is hurting the teams that pay these guys actual salary and it is hurting us FANS who root for our particular teams......

The NBA teams and the league already know that it's the 'cost of doing buisiness'.....

If they don't want their players participating in international ball, then they can sign a bunch of scrubs who wouldn't make their national teams. But.....teams typically go after the best players they can get. So.....I'd suppose that they're good with accepting the 'risk'.

Seriously.....you are a bit melodramatic at times. How are fans being.......hurt?

Bulls are my #1 team. If Deng couldn't play due to recovering from a wrist injury that didn't get treated becaus of Olympic ball, it wouldn't have hurt me one bit.....

Spurs are my #2 team. Parker being hurt and not playing wouldn't hurt me one bit......

I mean......I just don't understand all the 'hurt' you're talking about. How are fans being......"hurt"?

Right. This board IS meant for posting just for the sake of it:-). I sure don't make a salary for posting, and I hope this isn't your full time day job either.

That being said, why is this silly to you? "Who" is gong to replace him is a totally separate question. What good, or how valuable is Parker to them if he stays hurt during playoffs? Do you realize how badly Spurs have been hurt during several playoff runs due do a Manu injury? And both play heavily during summer.

I'm like Cuban. If I have a player on contract, I DONT want them to play summer ball, either for a league or Olypmpics or whatever. They are on MY payroll!!!!

then you aren't really a fan IMO

this international garbage is an exhibition, it's meaningless self advertising and self-promition

if you can't see and recognize that- I can't help you. you need to wake up and understand that it isn't 1958, there are no 'amatures' and it isn't about country- its about them all making $$$$$

I enjor the international games. You call it "exhibition", but these players are goin all out. The games DO count; though the may not count for you. And really.....that's of no consequence at all.

As for your opinion of whether I'm a fan.....well.....your opinion on that is of no consequence, as well.

And last I checked......I don't recall asking for your "help", nor do I believe that I require your "help". At the end of the day.....I'm gonna enjoy not just 'THE' game.....but ALL of the games.

Ya see....my 'fanmanship' of the game doesn't start with.....or end with......the NBA. The NBA is just part of the equation.

Well.....if you just arbitrarily release an all-star player and you have no replacement....that NOT a 'different question'.....that's part of the total equation.

You harp about what's gonna happen during the playoffs.....he11.....you start releasing your best players and you'll be watching the playoffs from your living room.....as an unemployed, former GM whose team DIDN'T EVEN MAKE the playoffs.

And yeah.....just going around hacking off your nose to spite your face (in a manner of speaking) is pretty darn silly to me.

And yet.....when it's time to play for their country's teams......Cuban's players STILL played for their country's teams.

They are on Cuban's payroll from October through May. After that.....they're entitled to play where they want and with whom they want. And last I checked, Cuban hasn't released a single player for participating in international ball....nor will he EVER!

If you believe I 'like to argue because I can', it would beg the question 'why would you have ever responded to begine with?'.

As for pleasent discussion, is.....;

"then you aren't really a fan IMO

if you can't see and recognize that- I can't help you.
"

............your idea of a "pleasent discussion" (LOLOL) ?
