04:56 PM ET 08.27 | Colorado Rockies pitcher Rafael Betancourt may have reached the end of the road in his Major League Baseball career. While the news was expected, Betancourt has officially been diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Betancourt suffered the injury last week during a Thursday appearance against the Philadelphia Phillies and he was almost immediately placed on the disabled list after an MRI confirmed the tear. The team is looking at all options and Betancourt will be re-evaluated by doctors after receiving an injection for platelet-rich plasma therapy, but it doesn't look good for the veteran. With his torn UCL, it is almost certain that he will be forced to undergo Tommy John surgery and at his age, it could put an end to his playing days.

Another one bites the dust, yo.... I would say young pitchers should learn to throw like the old schoolers (i.e. Ohlendorf) but that doesn't guarantee you won't go under the knife either. Athletes are just throwing too hard to hold up physically.
