07:14 AM ET 08.28 | Hoops fans can get a fix, for the time being, as the FIBA Americas Championship game will be televised on Friday, but less formal workouts are happening, too. Former Atlanta forward Josh Childress will be among 40 or more free agents who will work out here as the Cavaliers continue to do their due diligence in the month leading up to the start of training camp, according to an NBA source. Childress' agent, Chris Emens, told HoopsHype.com his client would work out in Cleveland and San Antonio. Given the Cavs' current roster and salary situation, all the players face long odds of making the team, but some could earn invitations to training camp.

This guy has been overrated and he overrates himself. He needs to work on his offense which is non-existent. Pass on him!

Childress hasn't be relevant for 6-7 years ... since he left for Greece. (at least he got paid there) Even if Greece, he didn't do much. Then he was buried on the bench on a bad Suns team. It seems like there should be a young, warm body better than him to fill out the end of the bench.

I like that this Cavs management team does their due diligence and explores all the opportunities on the market- whether free agents, trades, draft picks etc. There were Jimmer Fredette rumors just last week that were more just the Cavs doing their due diligence and looking at the price on players -

this is smart since you never know when an opportunity may arise- no one saw Harden getting traded just a couple days before the season started...who knows the next time an opportunity like that presents itself- but be sure if it does the Cavs will have their ear to the ground

Any team that gives this guy more than the league minimum should have their GM fired. He has never done anything in the NBA of any importance and has never had the potential to do so. He's gotten one undeserved contract and hype that he didn' deserve after another. I don't see ANYTHING about Josh Childress that would make you want him on your team.
