07:19 AM ET 08.28 | For now, there is no word on whether a former Pirate promo day is on the horizon in Queens. On the day the Mets were giving out 500 Marlon Byrd T-shirts as part of a promotion, the team traded the right fielder and catcher John Buck to the Pirates for an infield prospect, a player to be named later and cash considerations. In a span of about 24 hours, the Mets pretty much lost all that kept them interesting down the stretch of another losing season. On Monday, the team announced that ace Matt Harvey had a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. The team is not optimistic that he can avoid Tommy John surgery. ... Byrd -- the team leader in home runs (21) and RBI (71) -- and Buck (15 HR, 60 RBI) were the Mets' top two run producers.

Mets get a prospect, the Pirates get offensive help, and Byrd gets the chance to play on a contending team. Everyone wins.

Just don't have David Wright wave it. He might tear HIS UCL. He's about all they have left.

Idiots! That wasn't a white flag they were waving, it was Harvey's arm. Get the story right.

OUCH! That brings back AWFUL memories of Dave Dravecky's arm practically exploding while he delivered a pitch way back when....If anyone doesn't remember it, google it. His body goes towards home, and his arm goes towards first and then just looks like it breaks into about 2 or 3 places. Gruesome.

Actually now that I think about it, Dravecky's was bad enough, but Tom Browning was the gruesome one I was thinking of. Just Google'd it and that's the one. Just horrible.
