Kemp's return may cost Puig

07:21 AM ET 08.28 | Don Mattingly has been down the path before, this business of an abundance of talent. The first time [Mattingly] had to fit four outfielders into three spots, he indicated that Yasiel Puig would be the hardest to take out of his lineup. Puig was batting .369 at the time. Now, with Matt Kemp likely to return next week and Puig in a two-week slump, Mattingly indicated he could try to spot the rookie outfielder a few more days off here and there. Puig is batting .220 with two home runs and four RBIs in his past 16 games. "I think, sometimes, he gets a little tired," Mattingly said. "He may not think that, but I just think mentally, sometimes, he gets more down. This is probably the most games he's played in a while, and it's pretty intense."

That's an odd headline. A few days off for a slumping player might be ust what the doctor ordered. I don't see how that costs Pug

It won't be easy trying to give Puig some days off.

Imagine a healthy Kemp along with Puig...

Indeed. That's one heck of an outfield.

Until Kemp is healthy - which has been rare the last couple of years - this is a non-story. If he's healthy, juggling four OFs is a nice problem to have.

No doubt. And Crawford has an injury history as well.

Go Dodgers!!

No worries. They'll find some way to choke it away.

Puig is also 5-10 his last 2 games.

Slump may well be over.
