Can Marqise Lee keep Kiffin's secret?

07:23 AM ET 08.28 | USC head coach Lane Kiffin isn't one to spill any beans, something he proved again Tuesday. Kiffin had said he would wait until the Trojans arrived in Hawaii before determining in what order quarterbacks Max Wittek and Cody Kessler might be used in Thursday's opener. But on Tuesday, with buses waiting on campus to transport the Trojans to the airport, Kiffin acknowledged that he had already made up his mind. Not that he is sharing his plan. ... Asked if he had addressed the quarterback situation with receivers, Kiffin said he "mentioned it" to All-American Marqise Lee. "The receivers' job is to line up and do their job and not worry about who the quarterback is," Kiffin said, adding, "Just like we don't make big announcements in the team room about what we're doing at right corner, it's no different."

ICE how do you think Pat Haden really feels about Kiffin? I know he continues to say "all the right things" but from my ND experience I think he may be in a similar position that the ND AD was when it became clear to him that "Ole Charlie" was not the answer to ND's football woes. Any thougths...?

When you're a good coach you can get away with cat and mouse games. Lane Kiffin cannot.

Sounds like a similar deal. I think he likes Lane, and appreciate how hard the guy has worked under the sanctions. However, if we tank this year, anywhere near like last year, Lane is gone. Full squad or not, there is too much talent on this roster to barely break .500 We shall see if Lane has matured as the HC, or not.

So what if he does?

Receivers of M. Lee's quality still need to feel comfortable with the QB they're playing with on the field. Timing and anticipation and signals are still critical to a receiver's success, no matter the level of athleticism. LK's QB shell game is puzzling, to say the least.

Apparently even if you're an average or bad coach, you can get away with "the cat and mouse game"!!!

Kiffin's secretive behavior does not make him trustworthy when it comes to coaching. Telling an All-American WR to "mind his own business" is insulting.

If talking to reporters with a mouth full of ice cream is any indication...

Yep. He's solid as polar ice. Well, as far as what that used to mean, you know, before the recent increases in melting.

This story is getting real old, the third or fourth time the USC QB drama has been run on FN in the past week.
Even us Domers are getting tired of hearing about the Trojans "QB problem".
Give it a rest and let the games begin!

Where in this article did you see where LK told Lee to "mind his own business"??? Read the article again!!! What LK said was "he "mentioned it to All-American Marqise Lee"!!!

I can't believe so many writers are making a living stating the obvious, spinning comments, and kicking dead Trojan horses..

Kiffin said he "mentioned it" to Marquise Lee. The LA Times added "All American."

Marquise Lee's Heisman campaign manager needs to find better ways to get his name out there. This LA Times attempt is lame.

SI really stepped up the Clowney hype today ... a lead article with a over-produced picture of JC looking real tough (made me laugh). Whoever is running Marquise Lee's Heisman campaign needs to get on it! The gauntlet has been thrown down!
