07:27 AM ET 08.28 | Don't expect Phil Kessel -- lightning rod, though he may be -- to sign an extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs any time soon. The Leafs forward told reporters at the U.S. Olympic Camp Tuesday that he has not discussed a new contract with the team and he does not want to negotiate during the season. ... Kessel, 25, is in the final year of his contract and is scheduled to become an unrestricted agent after the 2013-14 season. The American sniper led the Leafs in scoring last season with a team-high 20 goals, 32 assists and 52 points in 48 games. He also added four goals and two assists in seven post-season games. He played a major role in helping the Leafs end their post-season drought as the club made their first playoff appearance since 2003-04.

QUOTE(#1):

Not too sure what this guys worth...he's a legit sniper tho...he's rite up there in goals scored the last few seasons...so im thinking 6.00 million to 7.00 million per year...but this is Leaf Land so he'll probably sign for 7.75 per year times 8 seasons.

Fair comment. A deal will be worked out along these lines.

I do like the "no negotiating" during the seaon idea though I wonder if it's really effective.
the idea is no distractions, but it still must be

Do you know the way to San Jose'?

Tough spot for Nonis. If his demands are too high he could walk for nothing. He better feel this one out. What if ole half sac actually wants to test free agency?

He's too busy regretting the sexy, smoldering headshots he took earlier this week for USA hockey to negotiate.

HC..........I'm worried. You're not by yourself are you? Is there an adult nearby to help you when the delusional stuff gets overwhelming? Sort of like me wanting Ovie to bring the Cup by this summer. :-)
