02:38 PM ET 08.28 | They say you practice like you play, which is great news for the Texas A&M Aggies and star quarterback Johnny Manziel. Despite plenty of off-field distractions and the pending NCAA investigation, it appears that Manziel has been able to keep his focus on football and put in the necessary work to continue bettering himself as a player. According to reports, Manziel has been constantly improving throughout practices and he is looking sharp leading up to the team's season opener this Saturday against Rice at Kyle Field. If Manziel is continuing to improve from where he was as a freshman, this is obviously great news for the Aggies and their fans as they gear up for a national title run.

The flip side of above headline: "NCAA Looking Worse then Ever in Practice"

Manziel got his penalty - He is suspended for the first half of the first game against Rice. Hahahahahahahahaha. What a joke.

Looks like Drew Tieman gets to stay in business for a while longer.

Absolute joke. Someone , ANYONE explain to me any kind of logic to justify a suspension for one half of a football game.

August 28, 2013  06:08 PM ET

The whinyorange meltdown can now commence.

Face saving. It would appear the NCAA has no hard evidence so they are calling it "inadvertent violation of a NCAA rule." The NCAA also states "there is no evidence Manziel committed no infraction. "

So, if you inadvertently do nothing wrong ( nothing that can be proved), then you are subject to a penalty because they can.

Logic is not applicable.

For what it is worth: ESPN explanation. If possible.

amazing how the NCAA can figure out his penalty in a day..

100 bucks says the miami ruling comes out the week of the UF game.. any takers?

August 28, 2013  07:43 PM ET

Why would John John leave college early for the NFL? He will prove to be nothing more than a little punk about to get cut in the big boys league.

August 28, 2013  08:38 PM ET

He'll have another breakout season.....on his face.

August 28, 2013  08:50 PM ET

Say what you want about Manziel (and judging by the recent threads, everybody is), but Manziel lawyered up with a great attorney, and the NCAA blinked. That due process thingy is a b1???th

Exactly, if NCAA waits until the Bama game to rule on JF, there would be way more pressure on them. So they let KS decide his suspension..saving face in their own way. Oh, and there was apparently no checks involved.

Seeing as how they are the aggies and starting only their 2nd season as SEC members(excuse me while I go throw up), somebody somewhere has been reading the SEC Cheaters Handbook and Autograph Pricing Guide that says NO CHECKS. CASH ONLY. But, they are aggies and a check might show up just about the time of the 'bama game.

Have you been keeping up with 105.3 The Fan? They're giving away tickets to the A&M/Alabama game every day this week. Listen at 7:15 in the morning, get the "keyword" and tune back in at 5:00.
