Pryor overtaking Flynn?

07:09 AM ET 08.29 | Talk about making the most of a chance. Greg Olson created an offensive package this offseason to get Raiders backup quarterback Terrelle Pryor on the field. He didn't want such athleticism to lay fallow, not on a team in desperate need of offensive talent. It started small, with a read option play here, a designed run there. ... Now it could be a full time thing. Pryor is a legitimate contender to start behind center, which has forced Olson to adjust and expand Pryor's responsibilities. "We signed Matt [Flynn] with the thought being that he's going to come in and be the starter, and we would have that package for Terrelle," Olson said. "But Terrelle has done some things in these preseason games that we've been excited about; stuff that a lot of people are excited about."

I think Matt wants to be traded back to Green Bay.

Wonder if Matt Flynn is just more comfortable holding that clipboard? And cashing those big checks............

August 29, 2013  08:27 AM ET

Matt Flynn deserves every penny he gets. So far, he's held the clipboard for 2 teams, and both of them have developed Pro Bowl level quarterbacks. Are we about to see a third?

Buffalo could use his services. Of course, the Jets could too, but they would still find some other way to eff it up.

He had one good gme. Only three less than Flacco did so maybe Matt wants a pay raise like the Ravens gave to Flacco?

August 29, 2013  08:43 AM ET

Matt Flynn is very similar to his old college team mate JMac Russell. They both had one big game and got a huge check. Jmac torched a consistently over rated Notre Dame "defense" and was the #1 pick and Flynn lit up the Lions back in the 2011 season and got a 3 year $20M deal from Seattle. If he gets beat out by Pryor maybe he heads to NY?

Somehow, I don't think a Flynn banner flying in Denver will be upsetting fans anytime soon.

Zing.

Olson doesn't realize they traded for Flynn. SMH.

TP has the mobility to buy time behind the OL (missing their best player) and is a better fit. Flynn isn't that mobile or have a quick enough release to help himself.

The Jets don't need Flynn, they have his replacement, Graham Harrel.

Trade or not, the Raiders signed him with the intention that he'd start. This is one hell of a case of deja vu for Flynn. All the way down to the sore arm.

I'm looking forward to seeing Pryor play even if Seattle's starters won't be in very long. I agree with you that he certainly gives the team the best chance to be competitive. Flynn has demonstrated that he can't feel the pressure and at times cannot see the field.

If Flynn was up on that banner in Denver instead of Flacco would anyone in Denver recognize him, unless he was holding a clipboard standing behind a first string QB?

August 29, 2013  02:07 PM ET

Would anyone in Denver even recognize Flynn if he was up on that banner instead of Flacco?

August 29, 2013  02:39 PM ET

I think he lacks the desire to start anywhere and prefers to stand on the sidelines and play when he must. He got his payday and with The Raiders front line, why risk injury?

Maybe they should send Flynn to the Jets. He seems good at turning backup QBs into starters.
