T-Wolves want more from Ricky

07:18 AM ET 08.29 | Coming off an ACL injury, Ricky Rubio managed in 2012-13 to record 2.4 steals and 7.3 assists per game. His flashy passes dazzled fans, and his glowing grin -- even in the face of a 50-loss season -- spread positivity throughout a Target Center that otherwise reeked with disappointment. Yet Tricky Ricky's new boss wants more. Buckets, particularly. "That's his next step in the evolution of the point guard position," recently hired Timberwolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders told KFAN 100.3. "Being a bigger scoring threat, being able to knock down shots, which will make the game much more easier for him." ... Pass-first one-guards are a dying breed in today's NBA, mostly because they've all learned how to score. Not Ricky. Not yet.

The best thing the Wolves can hope for is for all their players to be injury-free for a full season. Learning to score is a bonus, let him first stay on the court!!!

That's the problem right there. PGs are SUPPOSED to pass and score when open. Besides the Spurs, when's the last time a team with a scoring PG won an NBA title?

If Rubio can get a decent jump shot, he'll be harder to defend and will make his teammates more dangerous.

They should have thought about that when they decided t draft him. Ricky is a great floor leader, but if they wanted scoring the should have kept Ty Lawson and went after another player the year they draft 3 point guards. No take backs T-Pups. Make it work. In the words of the late Ray Charles, he can only make it do what it do.

Is It In Your DNA, Bro?

32 minutes played, 12 points, 8 assists and less than 2 TO's a game would be good season for Rubio.

Doing it for 75+ games would be even better!

He absolutely needs to give them more.but he is still a pup. That being said- there is no way you can lump big $$ on him if he's only average. That is the big problem.

D'Umtoni still wants him bad so you might see Jimmy "Short" Buss make a move to get him to the Fakers.

At the present he would be a better fit to play alongside Kobe. Rubio doesn't need to score to be effective and Kobe does want to score from everywhere Bro!

They have Nash and it still didn't work. Nash is even a better shooter but yet he hardly got the ball back for open shots. I wonder if he was trying to prove something to Nash also. Nash, you and Dirk got 3 of my MVP trophies. I was the best scorer at the time even though my team weren't making the playoffs or barely making it....

Is that good enough Elmer?

Rubio remains a joke. Anyone who dribbles the ball up court can get seven assists per game. (Stupidest stat in sports) NBA guards don't shoot 36%. At least not for long. Teams don't even have to guard him, they hope he shoots. On the other hand Ricky can't guard anyone. Sooner or later Minnesota and the NBA will have to admit he is a bust.
