07:20 AM ET 08.29 | 'Tis the season for waiver claims, particularly in Baltimore. In an effort to bolster their lineup, the Orioles have placed a trade waiver claim on Minnesota Twins outfielder Josh Willingham and are attempting to negotiate a deal, according to an industry source. ... During the trade waiver process that began this month, the Orioles have claimed several players, according to multiple sources. One industry source said it appears the Twins are more motivated to trade first baseman Justin Morneau, who is a pending free agent, than Willingham, who has a year-plus left on his contract. But Willingham, a right-handed hitter, fits better for the Orioles than the lefty Morneau. The Orioles and Twins have discussed Morneau since July's non-trade-waiver period ended, another source said.

Get rid of both of them and see what you can get. The Twins are a disaster anyway.

If I am the O's I would have my phone lines dialing the Northwest and see if the M's would consider moving Michael Morse in a trade instead of dealing with the Twinkles.

I can't understand why they haven't addressed the DH spot, it's way tooo late now. They went into the season with Steve Pearce as their DH, seriously?

If o's can't swing a deal by Sat. Aug.31 it would do Os no good. they would not be eligible for post season. Willingham would be a better fit than Morneau who has had several concussions. Os have more of a need for a RH bat.
