EJ Manuel has yet to resume throwing

02:11 PM ET 08.29 | There is still some outlandish hope that rookie signal caller E.J. Manuel will be able to suit up for the Buffalo Bills behind center during Week 1, but it's quickly fading. Manuel has reportedly not resumed throwing yet and head coach Doug Marrone wants Manuel to have at least three "quality" practices in before committing to him in Week 1. Assuming Manuel is unable to get those "quality" practices in, Jeff Tuel will be thrown into the wolves as the Week 1 starter, but that's something the Bills would obviously like to avoid if at all possible.

No matter who starts for the Bills, Week 1 is an automatic loss.

I find it difficult to root against the Buffalo Bills.
It's not just that they're lovable losers either. There are plenty of reasons to dislike some losers, like the bengals or redskins, but the Bills seem have to have a soft spot in most every fans' heart.

They are never a factor in the playoffs, so, unless they're playing your team, you'd might as well root for them.

I root for them because they are an outdoor team in the cold, snowy, windy Northeast. They have fans that come out and enjoy themselves despite the weather and the team.

They had a graphic on the Pats game last night. In their last 25 games against New England, they are 2-23.
