Bryant plunges 40 feet into a pool

07:20 AM ET 08.30 | The past year of Kobe Bryant's basketball life, between coaching changes, the addition and subtraction of Dwight Howard, the ups and downs of winning and losing and a significant injury, has been more than just a little interesting -- and now he's recovering from offseason surgery. How's [Bryant's] rehab going? Well, judging by his latest Vine post, his torn Achilles tendon is doing well enough to jump 40 feet off a diving board into a pool. For a 35-year-old recovering from one of the worst injuries a professional athlete can have, this seems like a dangerous stunt to try. But Kobe pulls it off, landing safely in the water. Maybe the rumors of the Black Mamba shooting to suit up for the Lakers on opening night are true after all.

This will be the perfect time for him to take the season off to heal, learn the game from a different perspective and come back stronger and better than before. But as dumb and arrogant as he is he won't listen. He'll try to do the impossible of winning a championship with their current roster and fail.

He's the Mamba. He could have jumped 40' into an empty pool and been ready of the season opener.

Wow, what a homer...

I don't like Kobe. At all. But this is one of the reasons I do have some respect for him--he's always looking for a challenge--always competing, even if it's just against himself.
