07:32 AM ET 08.30 | Between even more players returning to the ice and the social media updates coming out of Detroit, Motown was a good spot for hockey fans on Thursday. Red Wings forward Johan Franzen was among a group of about two dozen players on the ice at Joe Louis Arena Thursday during an informal skate. ... Franzen will always be known for his incredible 2008 Western Conference semifinal series sweep over Colorado when he scored nine goals, including two hat tricks, in a three-game stretch, a reason he has been labeled a goal scorer, and sometimes a streaky one at that. Franzen doesn't like the "goal-scorer" tag. "I am not a goal scorer," he said. "I am a hockey player. I never look for goals. I look to play good and then people score or I do."

hey mule it'd be nice if you'd be a little more of a goal scorer then and quit coasting around.

yeah, I see his point...what a horrible thing to be called as a hockey player....

So what kind of scoring would the Mule like to be known for?

Me neither. A mule is best known for it's stubbornness and it's kick.

musical?
A mule is an animal with long funny ears
Kicks up at anything he hears
His back is brawny but his brain is weak
He's just plain stupid with a stubborn streak
And by the way, if you hate to go to school
You may grow up to be a mule

It wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit if they traded him or would have bought him out. He's fragile...playing when he wants.... afraid of the hit....

He makes $4mil/yr until 2020. Call it Holland's Brian Burke moment.

It was a front loaded contract Danny and is only worth 3.5, 2 and 1 million in the final years so it's not a contract Burkie would offer.

However, Kenny must have been drinking like Burkie when he did it.

I guess they were still punch drunk from the Cup success. Still, it shocked me then and it shocks me now.

Well it shocked me too and I thought it was an anomaly until Kenny picked up The Monster and Tootoo. Now I'm thinking early onset dementia.

Don't worry Mule, you won't get that rep. Been too long since '08

August 30, 2013  10:59 AM ET

Must be tough for a real goal scorer like Mike Bossy to sleep at night...
