09:26 AM ET 08.31 | Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports tweets the Seahawks may be cutting cornerback Antoine Winfield. "Hearing that the Seahawks, so deep in the secondary, will be releasing CB Antoine Winfield." La Canfora added a trade of Winfield remains possible. "Always the chance Seattle could deal Winfield first - WSH and MIN had legit interest this offseason - but can be difficult this time of year"

Skins have the need but not the cap space.

He may end up right back where he started. Knows the system, and Josh Robinson has looked uncomfortable in the nickel spot.

The Pack could use ten of him. Even at his age, he is still better than half their d backs. Oh, he knows how to tackle too.

The Seahawks secondary roster is damned near impossible to crack these days. They're going to be letting go of a few guys who could end up starters elsewhere this year.

Minny dumped him to save $$$$$. If he went back it would be for a lot less.

15 years in the NFL as a CB. Now that is rare.

August 31, 2013  11:34 AM ET

I wouldn't doubt it if Minny is on the phone with Winfield's agent right now.

Very rare. Been injured a lot the past couple years. But when healthy is one of the surest tacklers in the NFL. And his run support is (was?) second to none.

Darrell Green, Champ Bailey - those are the only 2 that come to mind. Both are/will be HOF'ers. Winfield won't be on his couch if he isn't hiding some nagging age injury.

He also provides team leadership, something the Vikes clearly lack

August 31, 2013  03:27 PM ET

Ed Reed isn't going to make it in Houston. I know, one's a safety the other a CB. You say tomato, I say tomato.

August 31, 2013  09:07 PM ET

He'll wind up underachieving somewhere.

He retired

So did Farve ... more than once. Point is - cooler heads (and egos) prevail and their desire to play combined with their still formidable talent becons them to, er, em, in-retire. I hope he does and plays his last games in purple and gold.
