Do Browns regret letting Phil Dawson go?

11:20 AM ET 09.01 | At his press conference, Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said, "This is our August 31 roster, not necessarily our September 8 roster." Let's hope not. After cutting all their kickers, the Browns need one. You can say the Browns asked for trouble when they declined to make Phil Dawson a good offer to remain with the team. I understand that the Browns are probably not a playoff team and remain a relatively young team. I know that with Dawson, the team continually was 5-11 . . . when it wasn't 4-12. Yet it really bothered me when Dawson went to the 49ers for a modest $2 million for one year -- and the Browns have tons of salary cap room.

Fluid rosters . Very fluid, a lot of those last cuts will be on a roster by Monday morning..

How is it the Browns can continue to be inept year after year? Perhaps they've reached a point where the decent football talent just doesn't want anything to do with them.

Nice. Honestly, you can get a kicker 30 minutes before kick off. They hang around the parking lot of every NFL stadium.

This. Kickalicious should be on an NFL team.

Kickers and punters need to go. Special teams in general need to go.

The only cool part of special teams was kick returns and even those are going the way of the buffalo.

No need for special teams anymore. Screw field goals. Those p0ssies need to go for it on fourth down. Ditto punts.

Kickers and punters belong in soccer, not the NFL.

Kinda contradicted the **** out of myself with comments 11 and 12.

I'm not gonna try to rectify that. It is what it is.

Just goes to show how LITTLE the SI supposed "reporters" know about the industry they write.

The Browns DID want to KEEP Dawson. Dawson did not want to stay!! Cleveland had to Franchise tag him 2 years in a row....and refused to Franchise him one more time BECAUSE they would have had to pay him about $15M for ONE YEAR!! Dawson unwilling to sign a term contract with Cleveland moved on and signed with 49ers (a GREAT pick up for SF beyond what ANY of their fans even realize). FACTS ARE FACTS!!! Just wish SI would use a few before opening their big mouthed typos!!
