08:10 PM ET 09.01 | Anthony Pettis earned the honor of being called the UFC lightweight champion on Saturday night with an impressive performance over former champion Benson Henderson. Pettis was able to beat Henderson yet again, but instead of a thrilling back-and-forth battle that went to a decision, Pettis earned the win via submission in the very first round of the bout. What is even more impressive about Pettis' performance is that he was fighting on one good leg. Pettis was forced to withdraw from his previously scheduled fight at featherweight with Jose Aldo because of a knee injury, so it seems likely that the knee was not yet fully healed and he re-injured it against Henderson. UFC president Dana White announced during the post-fight press conference that Pettis had his knee "pop" during the fight and he would not comment on what will be next for the champ.
