07:15 AM ET 09.02 | For EJ Manuel, the countdown clock to Week 1 in his NFL career is ticking, and he was asked over the weekend a number of questions about what his near future will hold. Q: How confident are you that you will be able to get in there by Sunday? A: Well each day my injury has gotten better and like I said, I have been two or three treatments a day. That has been helping me a lot. Chris Fischetti has done a great job helping me get back on the field. I have been progressing every day. Q: It did not look like you were favoring your knee. How natural does it feel and are you still thinking about it? Q: How confident are you that you will be able to get in there by Sunday? A: Well each day my injury has gotten better ... Q: If it was your call to play on Sunday would you play? A: Most definitely.

Of course he "wants" to play on Week 1. I think a healthy Tuel is a better choice than a broken Manuel.

If his knee has not healed, keep him on the sidelines, he's got a long career ahead of him!

Patriots' defenders are looking forward to a chance to Read The Fine Manuel.

Tuel should start if there's any question about health. Not to be curt about it, but an UDFA is less valuable to throw to the wolves on week one.

Kolb wants to start too, not that it matters.
