07:23 AM ET 09.02 | There's a new sheriff in Sacramento, one who himself nearly became a state trooper, and his name is Michael Malone. "When the players come back in September, they're going to get a sense that things are different when they're around our staff. They can see how hard we work, how committed we are. I'm running sprints last week with DeMarcus Cousins and Travis Outlaw, and they said, 'Coach, we've never had a guy run sprints with us.'" ... [Q:] You had DeMarcus running sprints? Where was this? [A:] "Right across the street, on the track at Inderkum High School. This summer, we had Isaiah Thomas, Jason Thompson, Jimmer Fredette, Marcus Thornton working out during the summer league, and we're all sweating, working."

Running With The Devil, Bro?

September 2, 2013  10:27 AM ET

Are there any exercises that would improve his attitude?

QUOTE(#2):

good for cousins to be working hard (hopefully its not just so he can get his max $ contract) and good for the franchise to have a coach who seems to have connected with the players.

It's a start. Wonder if it just happened once -- or if it is on-going ?

Are there any Kings fans on Fan Nation? I don't recall seeing any.

If you were a Kings fan would you admit it? As a part-time fan I guess I must REPRESENT!

I wonder how long this will last...a week maybe?

To all the Laker, uh Heat, uh whoever's winning this game NBA fans. There are Kings fans. Why is Chris Hansen crying in his beer? Why is Steve Ballmer looking for a job? Thank Kings fans. The old ownership got creamed in the last recession and their team went down hill. New ownership is rich and smooth. The Kings are on their way back.

He needs to get in all the shape he can get, he has potential, but he's squandering with his attitude and demeanor, then again, he wouldn't be the first guy this has happened to

This season is make or break for several players. Cousins is surely one of those. He needs to prove he is max worthy, and can keep his mind on the court. There is a limit to where his talent can keep hiding his attitude.

Put up or shut up season for many others too: CP3, DWill, Tyreke Evans, Favors etc

Maturity will improve his attitude.

Having a coach who is willing/able to actually work with him (as in summer workout windsprints) won't hurt either!

Hopefully for him, his attitude WILL change.....otherwise, they'll be no max-contract. I just don't see max 3-4 year contracts going to knuckleheads in the forseeable future....no matter how talented they are.

Be nice is that last!

Kings fan here. I attended about have of the home games last year, and watched most of the season. There were a few too many games last year where the team got gassed at the end. They played strong 2nd and 3rd quarters, but just had trouble keeping up with a lot of the other teams. I'm happy to see a coach put some time into coaching guys through conditioning as well as basketball skills. Who knows, maybe he will also get these guys to trust each other down the stretch as well.
