03:00 PM ET 09.02 | It has been relatively quiet in the NHL news cycle, but on Monday morning the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks announced that they have reached a six-year contract extension with starting netminder Corey Crawford. The deal will keep Crawford in Chicago through the end of the 2019-20 season. During his time with the team, Crawford has racked up a 83-43-19 record with eight shutouts. Even more impressive is his 2.40 goals-against average and .913 save percentage. There is no question why the Blackhawks were looking to lock him up with a long-term deal.

How can you do wrong with Santa as your back up?

Twice as much as a guy who's numbers are better now, and would have won if in net.....NIEMI!!!!

He's not worth that much, and if not for a few lucky spots, he would have been back up to who, ever they brought in after dubbing him the loser of the play-offs. I thought he was a Conn Smythe candidate, but then.....I wasn't sure.

I guess my jury is still out on him, as he could represent Canada, and that makes me nervous.

If he can get that much.....Kessel will get his 8mil.

I want to say his wife is hot.....but it might be Reimer who has the rammer.....maybe both do? Sigh......

Niemi's #'s since coming in the League, and he has a Cup too, with the same Team, but I think he got a Vezina nod....and at 3.5 mil ( I think it was or close to that) they passed it up? He already had chemistry with their D who I might add were terrible the season following.

Just sayin is all.......
