07:13 AM ET 09.03 | Terrelle Pryor's rise up the depth chart now appears complete. [Pryor] has been named the Raiders starting quarterback for the season-opener on Sunday, according to two league sources. Coach Dennis Allen told both Pryor and Matt Flynn his decision Monday morning and said he wasn't going to say whom he chose for competitive reasons. Flynn was the starter throughout training camp but struggled in the third preseason game on Aug. 23, throwing two interceptions in six passes and fumbling once against the Bears. The Raiders were willing to coach around Flynn's lack of a strong arm in exchange for his "game manager" skills but Flynn's play and the Oakland fans' boos that night obviously jarred them. Pryor came in to loud cheers and led four scoring drives and then started the preseason finale.

If you draft/trade for enough QB's, eventually you might get it right, not that he's necessarily the answer but might be better than most of the crap they've been putting on the field in recent years.

One of the men held back (IMO) in the NFL because of NCAA acusations and sanctions....

Unfairly.

He wasn't thrown to the wolves and had time to adjust to the pro game. Flynn has been pathetic.

This move is a no-brainer. Go get 'em TP!

It makes you wonder what the NCAA really is for.

Maximus: I will win the crowd. I will give them something they never seen before.

Flynn was able to capitalize on two football games to get to the point where he is now. It didn't prove that he was any good, it only proved that there were teams desperate enough to find out for themselves.

September 3, 2013  09:51 AM ET

Why not? At this point, it's either him or one of the groundskeepers.

September 3, 2013  09:59 AM ET

Why not give Pryor a shot? The Raiders are going to stink no matter who the QB is this year.

Exactly!

Gee I'm so shocked! Really? Hey is Wilson can show up and replace a Flynn who Seattle paid a ton o money for that says one thing: They weren't impressed with Flynn. So why would I think Flynn would usurp Pryor a guy who can run and pass some. In the age of the spread QB, Pryor wins every time.

No matter what - there is ALWAYS a Scott Mitchell out there.
