07:19 AM ET 09.03 | Welcome to the major leagues, Jonathan Schoop. [Schoop] will join the Baltimore Orioles today for the first time, Norfolk Tides manager Ron Johnson said Monday after his team's season-ending 1-0 loss to Durham in 10 innings. Outfielder Henry Urrutia and right-hander Josh Stinson also will be recalled by the parent club. ... Schoop, 21, hit .256 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs in 70 games for the Tides. Considered the top position-player prospect in Baltimore's system, his debut was perhaps postponed because he was out from May 14 to July 26 with a lower back strain. ... Schoop (pronounced Scope) is the heir apparent to O's second baseman Brian Roberts, whose contract expires at the end of the season. He has risen through the system with close friend Manny Machado.

.256 isn't exactly tearing it up in AAA.

Maybe that back strain has something to do with those numbers.
