07:14 AM ET 09.04 | Earlier this week, Joe Webb was officially listed on the league's website as a quarterback -- and, so much for that. [Webb] remains a mystery as a football player. Webb was drafted as a wide receiver, moved to quarterback and now is attempting to carve out a career as a wide receiver. He also has returned kickoffs and been the focal point of a gimmicky "Blazer" package. ... Webb admits he's still relatively raw as a receiver, but he sees improvement in his route running and pass catching. He finished the preseason with 10 catches for 65 yards and one touchdown. However, he dropped a dump-off pass in the final preseason game when it appeared he tried to turn upfield before securing the ball. Webb got the nod over Stephen Burton in the competition for the fifth and final wide receiver job.

The Jets should consider doing the same.

You can't have a washed up QB article without Tebow!

This news is almost a year old. Real earth shattering.

That was my first thought. Nothing here other than meeting the weekly Star Tribune quota.

Does not say much about the Vikings. Guy is now on your team for the fourth year and you still do not have a read on him? He turns 27 this November and you don't know what he should be when he grows up?

He strikes me as a Old Testament kind of guy.

Yep. Vikings seem to be the quieter circus of the NFL.

Who cares. Ponder won't be able to complete passes to the actual receivers anyway. Running confused pass patterns may actually help him (Ponder or Webb, take your pick (and when I say pick of course I am referring to an interception)).

Packers lite.

Gotta love the Vikings. Like the Jets, they're the gift that keeps on giving.

He a ran a 4.3 and runs well in the open field. Those are the only reasons he's on the roster, because it's sure not his hands. Some compare the circus to the Jets, while I compare it to Oakland.

That is a more fair comparison. With that kind of speed and running ability, I'm surprised they don't try him at RB.

This is old news, Webb was drafted (or signed as a Rookie FA) with the intentions to be a WR. The only reason why he returned to QB was of because Favre and back up QB went down in his rookie season. He became there emergency QB.
