07:17 AM ET 09.04 | An unusually candid Mike Tomlin opened the new season answering a good many of the questions hanging over the Steelers heading into Week 1, including what's happening in the backfield. Isaac Redman will start, but the other two healthy halfbacks, LaRod Stephens-Howling and Felix Jones, also will get their chances. ... Look for Stephens-Howling to be the primary back on third downs and Felix Jones to work in more with Redman. "We're continuing to get to know Felix," Tomlin said. "We like his natural run instincts." Tomlin agreed with rookie halfback Le'Veon Bell that he might return by the second game as he overcomes a foot injury. "He probably can be characterized as out this week, not necessarily from a health standpoint, but young guys like him have to practice in order to be able to participate."

One thing he will get to know for sure..Felix is good for 2 games in a row before he ends up sitting after getting dinged up.

As long as Tomlin is coaching and Big Ben playing all 16 games, Steelers will always be a contender.

Oh great. So now the Giants are looking at him as a possible replacement for Brown.

September 4, 2013  09:37 AM ET

He'll find out that Felix is, well, Felix-like.

Did a bean stalk grow outta those spilled beans?

If so, Tomlin needs to climb it and bring back the giant that lives at the top to play OL. :-)

That sound just like the rest of the Steelers' RBs so he fits right in.

Dwyer lost the job to Felix Jones because he puts the ball on the ground. 2 fumbles in the preseason = unemployment line.
