07:41 AM ET 09.04 | Stephen, we're not in Florida anymore. When the Red Wings were recruiting center Stephen Weiss this past summer, they were direct and up front with the free agent. The expectations for Weiss were laid out by general manager Ken Holland and coach Mike Babcock quite clearly. "We explained the situation to him very clearly," said Babcock Tuesday after the Red Wings' conditioning skate. "We told him if he's not ultra competitive, he couldn't come here." ... Weiss signed a five-year contract worth $24.5 million the first day of unrestricted free agency; he is anxious for the season to get underway. "Just walking in (to Joe Louis Arena) this morning and seeing the pictures and all the history here, it's something you don't have in Florida," Weiss said.

Has it been decided what jersey number Weiss will be wearing? #9 and #19 are waving in the rafters.

Exactly.why this is bound to end in disaster for DET.

Weiss has 2 expectation monkeys on his back, the DET heritage, and, the 24.5 million pound expectation he signed up for.

or, he could rise to the occassion?

The change of scenery worked for Nathan Horton, who at times was blamed for his uninspired play while in Florida.

they can keep jai-alai....those xisteras can come in handy for holding fruit and stuff.
But pro sports (and NBA...one step above WWE in the "on the level" department) don't belong there full time

Obviously you're not a fan of haute cuisine. You probably don't even like a good Cabernet Sauvignon with a quarter-pounder. Shameful.
