Red Sox could put Francona in the playoffs

07:20 AM ET 09.05 | What a difference a year makes in Boston, where a late-season collapse has been replaced by consistent wins. The team has a different look. The clubhouse has a different feel. And as the Red Sox begin an 11-day stretch against the wild-card contending Yankees and Rays, the big question isn't whether the Sox will be in the playoffs, but rather who they'll bring with them. ... Like, perhaps, Terry Francona's Indians. Would there be any better way of pushing September 2011 into the past than by the Red Sox pushing through to win the American League East, and in the process helping carry their former manager to the postseason with them? It could happen. Francona's Indians won again Wednesday night, too, remaining only one game behind the Yankees.

To push the Evil Empire out of the playoffs and pull Francona's team in proves conclusively there is a God!

That would be an interesting twist........ but I'm still backing the Rays.......

What a good baseball story this year if the Bucs and Tribe both make the playoffs.

Yep - do I think they'll take the division - not likely, but they better stick with the W.C...... Or all the struggles they had during the year would be a true waste.

I'm not going to whizz and moan too much if PIT wins the division. Won't like it... but they have been so bad for so long - there is some sympathy.....

But - GO CARDS!!!!!!!!

September 5, 2013  08:59 AM ET

Of course - the real funny situation if it happened is if the Botox get knocked out of the division round by CLE....... irony in it's utmost.

I bring this up all the time to football know-it-alls that say football players are in better shape than soccer players.
